Biodiversity is the culture differences between different species of plants and animals. Biodiversity is what allows the world to turn in the direction that it is going. The different species of plants and animals all have a purpose. Now as humans we may not always know the purpose, or respect it, but there still is one. In the movie The Lion King it briefly discussed the circle of life. It’s kind of funny that I referenced to a children’s movie but it fits the topic. Every plant and animal have a purpose, and we as humans should be making sure that that circle is not disturbed.
The same rules apply to the culture diversities we see in the world. Having a culture is like a way to identify yourself to other people. It allows you to have a sense of pride, and belonging. On the outside looking it culture diversity allows for someone to understand why someone acts and says the things they do. Their culture is like a guide to understanding each person a little more in depth. I think culture is a beautiful thing. When cultures are brought together it becomes astonishing. Our world is a melting pot, and instead of forcing the pot to look and act the same we should be enjoying all that culture diversity has to offer.
Protecting biodiversity is just as important as protecting culture diversity. I strongly believe that governments should be protecting culture diversity. We should be learning and growing from different cultures. We shouldn’t be trying to destroy it. For instance people in the US are quick to say “well they should just learn English” or that “English should be the only language spoken.” What makes the English language more superior to any other language? All governments should be protecting the diversity, and just like Australia, they should be offering resources that allows people to gain respect for the differences. People might argue that it’s cheaper on the government if everyone just spoke English and did away with diversity. I would argue that it may be cheaper than providing people resources, and funding different organizations with the same goal, but that people would become instinct. Diversity like I mentioned before gives people a sense of who they are. We are a melting pot, and we are a part of the circle of life. If paying more money for resources is all it take for people to gain respect for different cultures then so be it.
